Water cooling tower for injection molding machine, AMG 81, destined for Mauá/SP.

Cooling towers are widely used in injection molding machines, mainly to remove heat from the process and recirculate cooling water. In injection molding applications, cooling usually serves the mold and, in many cases, also parts of the hydraulic system or heat exchangers associated with the equipment.

For injection molding machines, the right choice depends on how your system is set up:

Cooling tower: good when the factory needs to reject heat from the process water with lower operating costs, especially in recirculation systems.

In many plants, a cooling tower + chiller is used in the same system, depending on the criticality of the mold and the desired temperature. This appears in central cooling solutions for injection molding.

To size a cooling tower for an injection molding machine, you usually need to provide:

water flow rate, inlet and outlet temperature, city wet-bulb temperature, number of machines, and whether the application will cool only the mold or also the oil/heat exchanger. These are the data that define the required capacity of the turret. The application in injection molding machines typically involves the mold, screw base, hopper, and hydraulic system heat exchanger, depending on the machine's layout.
